Former Chelsea Star Fernando Torres Suffers Horrific Head Injury

The Atletico forward was stretchered off the pitch and rushed to a nearby hospital following a sickening clash of heads on Thursday evening

Atletico Madrid players were left in tears during Thursday evening’s 1-1 draw with Deportivo La Coruna, having seen team-mate Fernando Torres knocked old following a clash of heads.

With the game heading into the final minutes, Torres jumped with the Depor defender to contest an aeirial duel and was knocked unconcious by the coming together, before going limp in the air and landing flat on his face.

Players from both sides rushed to the striker’s aid, as did referee Carlos Clos, before Torres was eventually stretchered off the pitch with a number of his team-mates in tears.

According to Diario Sport, Torres was then rushed to a nearby hospital in an ambulance, with Marca then reporting the 32-year-old was conscious and talking soon after.

Atletico had fallen behind during the tie from a Florin Andone strike having pounced on a mix-up between goalkeeper Jan Oblack and defender Jose Gimenez, before Antoine Griezmann rescued a point for Diego Simeone’s men.

The Frenchman struck a dipping effort from 25 yards which beat Depor ‘keeper German Lux minutes after Filipe Luis had hit the inside of the post.

The striker leaves Hospital March 3rd, he claimed to be ok he said “Am fine, it was a mere injury and it happens it football, now am better, I don’t remember anything after the injury”
