Lionel Messi statue pulled down again – Full Details

Lionel Messi statute in Argentina has been pulled down for the second time this year and this time it was completely vandalized.

The Statue was cut off at the ankles and some of the pieces were found on its side next to the pedestal.

The statue was unveiled after Chile defeated Argentina in the Copa America final and Barcelona star had announced his retirement from international football.

The statue was unveiled by mayor Horacio Rodriguez Larreta back in 2016 in a bid to convince Messi to reconsider his decision and come out of his premature retirement decision.

Messi’s return to international football has a huge influence on Argentina making the cut to the next year World Cup in Russia.

Despite Messi’s success in football, many Argentine football fans do not have a good relationship with him, he is being treated like a foreigner, probably because he left for Barcelona, Spain at a tender age.

Messi remains one of the greatest football to have ever played the game of football.
