British Heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua has revealed that he will be making a trip to Nigeria very soon.

Anthony Joshua is born to Nigerian parents- Jonathan and Yetunde-from Sagamu in Ogun State and hugely identifies with his Nigerian roots.

Due to his Nigerian roots, the 28-year-old has a huge fanbase from the country he is yet to visit since he became a professional boxer.

Fresh from adding another belt to his heavyweight titles with a victory over Joseph Parker on Saturday, March 31, Joshua has confirmed that he visit Nigeria soon.

The boxer made this announcement on Instagram while commending a Nigerian philanthropist, Kokun.

Kokun shared a message between himself and Joshua on Instagram where the boxer was commending the philanthropic work he was doing in Nigeria.

Joshua took to the comment section of his post to write; “Confirmed if I can come & see Nigeria why wouldn’t I? Soon come.”

If Joshua truly makes a trip to Nigeria, it would be his second visit to the country of his parents.

The famous boxer once revealed in an interview that he spent six months at a secondary school in Nigeria, an experience which helped shape him to become successful.

“It was a change and I thought I was going to go for the full course: 5.30am in the morning, up fetch your water, put like an iron in your water to warm it up. Your clothes had to be washed and ironed,” the boxer told Daily Mail in April 2017.

“It wasn’t an issue but I wasn’t prepared. It was a good discipline.”

It was later discovered that the secondary school was Mayflower Private School in Ikenne, Ogun State Nigeria.
