Abramovich has a replacement plan for Eden Hazard

Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich has a replacement plan for Real Madrid target Eden Hazard according to Blues legend Marcel Desailly as reported by The DailyStar.

Hazard has been in the news during last summer transfer for a proposed move to Real Madrid but the injury he sustained during the end of the season with the Belgium national team slowed down the process and he eventually remained with the Premier League Champions.

Desailly believes that the Blues can survive without the Chelsea talisman, and the one time World Cup winner compared the situation with Didier Drogba departure in 2012 but the Stamford Bridge outfit went to win Europa League in the following season without the Ivory Coast forward.

The former defender believes Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich will also have a plan in place to replace Hazard.

“We are still in the season, no player is more important than the club,” Desailly told Goal.

“Even when [Didier] Drogba left, one of the great players, the spirit of the club continued. They continued to win.

“We will be sad if Hazard has to go but I am sure that Roman Abramovich is still passionate about the club.

“He will bring in another player that can allow the club to be at the same level again.”

Hazard signed for Chelsea in the summer of 2012 from Lille and has gone on to score 80 goals in 270 appearances for the west London club, winning four honours in the process.
